The IFLA section of Government Information and Official Publications together with the
section of Social Science Libraries invite to a one-day seminar on the theme: Providing Public
Access to Official Statistics in Copenhagen on Friday 29th of August 1997.
Purpose
The pre-conference seminar is designed for libraries providing or applying statistical
information. Its aim is to give an overview of the situation of the National Statistical Libraries
world-wide. Another goal is to establish an efficient network to serve the needs of information
service in this domain of activities. It will correspond with the planned workshop on a similar
topic of the IFLA section of Social Science Libraries.
Organisation
The Pre-Conference Seminar is organised jointly in co-operation with the Nordic Statistical
Libraries. Working language of the Seminar is English. The Conference will be free of charge
except for the lunch.
Main organiser is Mr. Søren Carlsen, Chief Adviser, Library and Information Centre, Statistics
Denmark together with Ms. Hellevi Yrjölä, Library Director, Statistics Finland.
